Melkbelly, formed by vets of Chicago’s experimental and DIY scene champions, organized
noise and thoughtful freneticism on its debut full-length, Nothing Valley, fusing
dreamy vocal lines and cantankerous guitar racket. Its songs clang and bang in
stripped-down production that highlights the band’s sharp edges; multi-faceted slabs
of sound serve harmonious, immediate songs.

Representing a shift away from her neo-folk origins, Chaotic Good is the fifth studio
album from singer-songwriter Johanna Warren, and her first for Wax Nine / Carpark.
Constructed largely solo in her garage and fleshed out with the help of a few key
helpers, the music is driven by grunge-esque guitars and passages of quiet piano.

Marking her move to Wax Nine, American singer-songwriter Johanna Warren’s last two
studio albums - a pair of thematically related albums titled Gemini I and Gemini II
(released in 2016 and 2018 respectively) - are being re-issued in a deluxe, 2xLP
package. There are bonus tracks in the shape of ‘The Garden’ and ‘Maya’, along with
instrumental versions of the studio albums.

Sad13 is the solo project of Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz. The project sees Dupuis
showing us her pop side, in particular taking inspiration from the likes of Tracey
Ullman and Joan Armatrading, although a little math rock creeps in here and there.
Haunted Painting is her second album, following 2016’s Slugger. Edition of 500 copies.
